Don’t hear your kids say ‘I’m bored’ this summer! Check out my list of 100 things to do this summer! Some are local, some are no matter where you live, but all are ideas to get you thinking of things to do for the next 2.5 months all the while making some fun memories together.

Let’s do this Summer 2018!

1 Go to the beach. Folly, IOP, Kiawah, Sullivans. So many options

2 Explore Charlestons alleys

3 Splash Pad at local parks ($1 per person entry)OR the fountains downtown-FREE(waterfront park)

4 $1 Movies (most regal cinemas or Imax)

5 Charleston pink house hunt

6 Charleston orange house hunt

7 watch a sunset

Pool Day

9 Ice-cream outing. Some cool places to try in Charleston are Ice & Pan or Jeni’s splendid ice cream

10 Spend a rainy morning at barnes and noble

11 Fiesta day-eat at a mexican restaurant or make tacos at home-let the kids do a piñata at home. Make homemade maracas

12 Make a Campfire in the back yard and do smores

13 Charleston childrens museum day

14 Explore Charlestons squares/downtown green space-Marion Square, Washington, Theodora Park, Wragg Mall, Wragg Square, Chapel Street Fountain Park, Cannon Park to name a few

15 Get a Pelicans snoball

16 Family bike ride-in your neighborhood or take them some place new and explore

17 Visit one of Charleston’s waterparks- Palmetto Islands for the youngest kiddos, James Island for in between, and Wannamaker for the older ones

18 Go Hiking! Daniel Island has a days worth of fun trails to explore

19 Make a morning of Doughnut fun! Treat the kids to Krispy Kreme, get some hats, and bring some home for the next days breakfast

20 On a cloudier day, lay out a blanket in the shade and cloud watch

21 Give the kids $5 and browse the target $1 section

22 Playground hopping. Find your top 5 and visit them all in a day

23 Set up an outside art station! Put on an old white tee and let them get messy. Paint paper, the shirts, or their own bodies! Hose them off outside when they’re done but take a photo first 😉

24 Feed the ducks at hampton park

25 Have a hula hoop contest with a popsicle prize for all

26 Make some tie dye shirts

27 Set up a backyard waterslide

28 Buy balloons and make a wish before setting them free

29 Find a small town parade to attend

30 Attend all the town Farmers Markets. Downtown has one every Saturday morning at Marion Square

31 Living room fort/campout. Build the biggest and best, and let the kids sleep in it one night

32 Spend the morning at the library picking out books and movies

33 Have an ice cream sundae bar at home

34 Go out for a slice of pizza-Andolinis or Mellow are my faves!

35 Have a photo shoot with your kids. Even with your cell phone, set the timer and go for it

36 Buy a watermelon from a local stand and have a seed spitting contest

37 Take a Road Trip!! From Charleston some good ones are-Savannah, Sumerville, Beaufort, Georgetown or Bluffton

38 Go Bowling

39 Pack a morning or evening picnic-find a park you’ve never been to

40 Catch a sunrise

41 Catch a few river dogs games

42 Visit Charlestowne Landing and visit the zoo

43 Check out the Magnolia Gardens Zoo and walk around among the shaded trails

44 Take a Trolley tour downtown

45 Set up a tent in the backyard

86 Check out city views from atop Charlestons parking decks!

87 Walk the Shem Creek Pier at sunset and watch for Dolphins

88 Take a walk down the Pitt Street Bridge all the way to the end

90 Make a big breakfast together for supper

92 Watch a Battery Sunset near the Coast Guard Station and watch them take down the flag for the evening

93 Clean out old clothes and donate them

94 Spend some time on the porch or back deck coloring together

95 Go to a Japanese restaurant where they cook in front of you

96 Paint a birdhouse. You can usually find all sorts of things to paint at Michaels craft store

97 Make Lemonade together and sit on the front porch and play 21 questions

98 Celebrate christmas in July-turn on christmas music, let the kids make a mid year list, drink hot chocolate(iced), and make a summer ornament to remember the day

99 Make your own moon sand

100 Visit mom or dad at work! Make treats for their co-workers and surprise them. Take him/her out to lunch
