We all get stuck in a rut from time to time, it happens to the best of us. I’m always looking for ways to get inspired, recharged, and motivated. Sometimes I fall on books to remind me to keep kicking butt and sometimes it’s other things. I’ve compiled a list of my favorite ways to get motived when I lose it and thought I’d share that with you!
1 Tj and Marshall. Sometimes I just need a new scent to make me feel fresh, a new blank journal or just a new coffee mug. I don’t always know what it is I need until I drive myself to the double x we all know as TJ Maxx! I love TJ and Marshalls alike. I browse the back section of mugs, frames and decor and almost always always walk away with a little $5 find. You never know what message you might need and sometimes you can find it on a pillow, a mug or a wall decor item just by walking around a bit. Make some TJ time for yourself and I can almost guarantee you’ll walk out of there with a treat for yourself on the cheap that will make you feel just a tad bit of motivation.

ps..if you do get one of those fab little journal notebooks, be sure to carry it around with you in your daily bag. You never know when you may get an idea and need to write it down so you don’t forget it later. I also like to keep mine handy by my bed. When I first wake up, I either like to write down what I dreamed about or whatever crazy idea might be floating around in my subconscious.
2 Driving! Sometimes it’s as simple as just hopping in the car(I prefer early morns or evenings so I can roll down the windows). Turn up your jams, let the wind blow your hair and just drive. If you don’t have time to just drive around with no purpose, try just taking a different route to work or give yourself an extra 10 minutes and take the long way. Everybody can find 10 minutes in a day. Drive through a neighborhood, down a side street, whatever it may be. You just never know what signs may jump out at you that are exactly what you need and will make you feel like you did something different today which surprisingly will flip some sort of switch inside of you. Routines are a wonderful thing, but breaking from your routine is what things like happy accidents are made of.
3 Coffee. If you get coffee every morning, try going to a different shop than your usual. Better yet, try ordering something you’ve never tried. And for the love, smile at the strangers you meet. You never know who may open up to you, who you may meet, or what new and interesting stories you might get to hear.
4 Books. I love a good motivational book. I like to keep my favorites on my desk so they’re handy. I pull them down from time to time and re-read the parts I hi-lighted. Sometimes I even write them down so they really sink in. Find some you are excited about and dive in.

5 Fresh Flowers. I know this seems so simple, but a fresh vase of flowers to brighten your home can do wonders for the soul. Go somewhere you wouldn’t normally go to buy them or even pick them yourself. Don’t ever underestimate the power of a bouquet of fresh flowers given to you by you ;).
So there you have it. Those are my top 5 things I like to do when I’m in that funk. Lately, as you can see on my instagram, I’ve also been just walking all over downtown. I snap photos of whatever stands out to me as I walk by it. I’ve walked down streets I’ve only ever driven on, and taken photos of things I’ve never even noticed. Every town, no matter where you live has uniqueness to it. Go find it in your own town. Use your cell phone, it makes no difference if you’re just doing it for your own benefit.
