Beaufort!
A beautiful drive, just right down the road.
Our spring camping trip to Helen GA was canceled this year due to the Corona Virus, but we were able to snag a spot and find some dates to get down to Beaufort earlier this month.
It’s full of hidden gems like:
The Chocolate Tree! – Fill your own box but don’t leave out the coconut clusters. They are amazing and a must try!
11th Street Fish Camp-We asked around about restaurants and were told of many near the campground where we stayed, but I found this one online and thought it would be worth the drive to Port Royal.
Boy was it! Fish tacos, fresh shrimp, amazing view of the shrimp boat docks, patio, great service. You won’t be disappointed!
Hunting Island Camp Ground– The campground is RIGHT on the beach and is so beautiful. Our campsite was close to the back of the campground and the walk to get to the ocean was maybe .5, so not too bad if you have a wagon to pull your beach load. There were plenty of camping sites right by the beach access, but be prepared for it to be super windy right there.
Golf carts and dogs were allowed on the beach!
Barefoot Bubba’s– If you forgot anything beach related or just want some icecream, check out this little place right nearby.
This was a super short trip for us and we weren’t even there long enough to venture into downtown Beaufort, but of course I’d recommend hanging out on along the waterfront, but be sure you check out the above places!
