Summer Reading-{charleston sc summer reading}

So many books, so little time!

I thought I’d do a post about what I’m reading this summer + share some cool reading essentials that you just might love too.

I just finished The Measure and it had such a good message honestly. I can see this being a really good movie one day.

“It’s easy to look at our time together and think that we were so unlucky. But isn’t it better to spend 10 years really loving someone, rather than forty years growing bored or weary or bitter? When we think about the greatest love stories ever written, we aren’t judging them by their length.”

Hammock Chair-They call this a camping chair, but man does it make a comfy reading chair for times when you want to read in the fresh air.

This book light is so handy and just what I needed. I love to read at night on the couch or in bed and rather than having an overhead light on when everybody else wants it off, this light is just right. You can adjust the brightness of the light and even choose your light shade. Such a handy must have gadget for any reader and what a perfect gift it would make too!

I just started One Italian Summer that I’ve had for a few months now. I think it’s going to be a super quick read and I already love it so far.

Lavender Tea!– I sometimes just crave a good lavender latte and they are so hard to find, at least anywhere nearby me. I bought this tea recently and have found that steeping the bag in regular brewed coffee gives it that hint of lavender that I love!

If you’re someone who loans your books to friends, I love the idea of stamping it so it makes its way back to your library 🙂

More great summer reads:

Next Year In Havana

“I used to stand at the edge of the water and look out at the ocean. You could see all manner of things when you stared into that wide expanse of blue. The world felt limitless, as though it was ours for the taking.”

Where the Crawdads Sing

“The marsh links the land to the sea, both needing each other’

“Crows can’t keep secrets any better than mud, once they see something curious in the forest they have to tell everybody”

“You all listen now, this is a real lesson in life. Yes, we got stuck, but what’d we girls do? We made it fun, we laughed. That’s what sisters and girlfriends are all about. Sticking together, even in the mud, specially in the mud.”

The Last House Guest

“Littleport had a way of doing that to people. Inspiring you to see more, to crack open your soul and look again”

The Scent Keeper-link is to hard cover b/c it’s so pretty!

“The fables inside were fantastical, intricate things, filled with girls who slept forever and houses made of candy and lies”

” The fairy tales my father read me had made sense when I was young. Within their pages, the lines of the world were simple. Stepmothers & queens & little crooked men were evil. Children triumphed and there was invigorating clarity to the way things ended. But how did it work when you were the one who’d left others behind in the woods? When you crafted the potions? Did it matter that you didn’t mean to? That you were sorry?”
