Clemson 2022
This was our coldest trip yet, but we survived and had a wonderful time.
Here’s my run down of what we did/ate/etc.
Stay:
Twin Lakes Campground!
Still love this place after 5 years. It never gets old. We always end up with a different spot and every spot has been fun to explore. The staff are always so friendly and it’s so peaceful this time of year.
Do:
Clemson game! This was the first year we sat down low and so close to all of the action. It was so much fun to see the game from that angle.
On our second day, we drove up to NC(about an hour away). We tried to pick apples at Sky Top, but the temp dropped to a ‘feels like’ of 25 degrees and with the wind, it was unbearable for us Charleston people. We did get some of their famous apple doughnuts that were absolutely amazing and worth the fact that we didn’t get to pick our own apples. We bought a bag of pre-picked of course and took some photos of the entry way. We will be back to do this in their warmer season! They have all apple varieties from August-Nov and even offer cherry picking!
Downtown Hendersonville-We parked and walked the shops, stopped for coffee at Black Bear & browsed the Mast general store-a must any place we go.
Jump Off Rock- We drove up the mountain through a town called Laurel Hill and found a super neat place called Jump Off Rock. The view is incredible and they have short trails around the main lookout area you can venture around to. We did the shortest .1 loop b/c it was so cold up there, but it was super neat and fun.
On the way back to Clemson, you’ll pass through Furman which is another beautiful campus to see.
Eat:
We tried a new place in downtown Clemson that I just can’t recommend, Palmetto’s.
We are 0-2 on finding a great restaurant on the main downtown Clemson Street.
I suggest just sticking to Esso for downtown Clemson dining and The Smokin’ Pig if you venture out a bit and you’ll be golden. Check the hours to both though as neither are open every day.
There is also a Cracker Barrel near interstate 85 if all else fails.
Shop:
Tiger Sports Shop-We stopped in here for a few things before game day. They have everything you can possibly need Clemson related. Clothing, socks, ornaments, games, stickers, even platters. The kids got their face stickers here.
Tigertown Graphics-We never caught them open, but this is a unique store in downtown Clemson that is always fun to browse through.
My LLBean Boots-I’ve had these for about 5 years and they LAST!
I can’t find her green fleece, but if I had seen this one with the tiger stripes!
A video of course…
Until Next Year…
